WHAT DO THEY SOUND LIKE?
The Revv Generator 120 is a beast of an amp, but it's more than just a metal monster. Check out a clip featuring 3 different profiles of channel 3 on this amp at a moderate gain level playing a more alternative rock style riff with some droning leads over the top.
Here is an example of a hard rock/metal type riff played with 2 profiles from the Red General Profile Pack. These profiles use the Red General (Revv) 2x12, and BGone (Bogner) OS 2x12 cabs.
Below is a short example of how you can use a strat style guitar with these profiles. In addition to having 5 dedicated profiles to strats, many of the regular HB profiles work great with single coils.
Here is the same riff, but with a LP Standard, using Bareknuckle “Rebel Yell” pickups. You’ll notice the guitars solo’d after one time through the riff. This sample uses profiles with Bogner and Orange cabs.
Looking for some sweet lead examples of the Red General pack? No problem! Here’s a clip of the same riff we’ve been using above, but with some shredding over top!
The single "Haunted Dreams" from Warm Chord Music features profiles from the Red General Profile Pack, blended alongside tones where the amp is running into a Two-Notes Torpedo studio. The guitars in this recording required very little processing to sit in the mix, as the Revv has a tight low-end and the profiles aren't scooped like a lot of high-gain profiles tend to be.
The Red General Profile Pack features my own personal Revv Generator 120 amp, which was custom built for me in 2016. I absolutely love this amp and the matching 2x12 cab I ordered with it. There's simply not many commercial profiles available for this amp and those that are don't offer much other than metal tones. My original goal was to develop a dozen or so profiles for my own use so I could have the sound of my amp with me wherever I went. As I was profiling, I found myself just simply turning on the Kemper when I would write new riffs, versus firing up my amp each time. With access to a professional recording studio (Woodshed Studio in Oak Park, MI) and a Two-Notes Torpedo Studio, I had tons of options for creating new tones with my Generator 120, and once I started, it was hard to stop! I made some of the profiles available on the Kemper Rig Exchange, which received high praise from the community, so I figured it made sense to come out with my own commercial pack.
HOW THIS PROFILE PACK IS DIFFERENT
With this profile pack, you're getting tones that I've either used on recordings already, or intend to use at some point. I didn't develop this pack with the thought of selling it until about half-way into the profiling process, so my approach wasn't to develop profiles that tried to be everything to everyone.
The Revv Generator 120 is a versatile amp and this profile pack aims to deliver that. You're not going to get 50 scooped, high gain profiles that might sound good on their own, but would sound like a fizzy, undefined mess in a mix. These profiles have been tested with FRFR's as well as several sizes of recording monitors. You can tweak them to meet your needs, due to the amp settings being fairly balanced.
Lastly, this first volume includes as many as 6 different cabinets, including my personal Revv 2x12 cab with Warehouse Veteran 30's and ET90. In addition to recording cabs in the studio with high quality mic preamps (API, Great River, SSL, UA Apollo), the Torpedo Studio was used to profile the IR patches I rely on when recording my Revv. With the high quality IR's available from industry leaders like Ownhammer and Celestion, there's so many tonal options out there. I've done the work for you and combined some of these IR's to create some awesome tones, as well as cab options you can try with your DI profiles.
WHY NOT JUST MAKE ALL THESE PROFILES AVAILABLE ON THE RIG EXCHANGE?
The simple fact is that I'm a musician, podcaster, and mixing engineer trying to continually invest in my brand, Warm Chord Music. I would love to obtain the Revv 100P, which is similar to the 120, but with slightly more aggression and an even tighter low-end. Selling this profile pack gives me the opportunity to invest in this type of purchase, which ultimately leads to more high quality profiles available to players like you!
IS THIS AN OFFICIAL REVV PROFILE PACK?
Short answer is NO. Longer answer goes like this....Before I went down the path of offering a commercial profile pack, I received permission from Revv Amplification to do so. To be clear, Revv was not involved in the development of this pack whatsoever. While I'm referencing the name of the amp itself, the official name of the profile pack is the "Red General." If Revv ever decides to develop their own profile pack, I'm sure it will be awesome and I'll be one of the first to check it out. Until then, enjoy 50+ profiles of the Generator 120 amp captured by Warm Chord Music!
